Ah, Amazon for women’s fashion. It’s a complete crap-shoot, isn’t it? I ordered a large-ish amount of summer tops from Amazon, based on reviews and you know what? It was still a crap shoot! I do know that a lot of my readers are looking for affordable options from Amazon, so I thought I’d share which pieces were quality, as well as options for styling them. At the end of the post, I’ll also post the “Don’t Bother” category and tell you why I wouldn’t purchase these, even based on the reviews.
This button-up Henley is my favorite. The quality is great, it looks like a waffle knit, but is actually more airy and breezy, making it ideal for summer. The very BEST thing about this is that it’s flattering and is a “throw-on and go” top. The V-neck isn’t too low, the arm holes completely cover your bra, the front has actual ties, and it dips down lower in the back for more coverage. The front ties mean that you get a bit of room in the tummy area (AMEN!) and all in all, it’s a super flattering little top! This would look so cute with the denim cut offs that are so on-trend right now, (Honestly in U.S. when are cut-off’s ever NOT on trend? Levis= ‘Merica!). It comes in a ton of colors and I think I’ll be adding a black one to my wardrobe. It’s under $20 and linked below.
Floral & Feminine
Next is this pretty little floral top. This one isn’t really my style, but many of you don’t like to show your upper arms, so if that’s you- this is a feminine and versatile option. It has pretty detailing on the sleeves, a modest V-neck that you don’t have to fidget with, and the hem along the bottom is straight. I love this one with white jeans and a half -tuck in the front. This would also be pretty with jeans or a solid color skirt. There are other color/pattern options and it’s under $20 and linked below.
Lastly is this cute casual top. I really like this one too. It’s made from a cotton+ spandex fabric and is incredibly soft and comfortable. It is cut in- in the back, but not so much that it requires a racer back bra. It is quite a bit longer in the back, so it has good bum coverage. Honestly, this is another, throw on and go summer top. The olive color made me want to give this a little boho vibe, but this one comes in a bunch of colors too, so the possibilities are endless. Linked everything below. **P.S.- My exact macrame bag is from Danielle Nicole she has the absolute COOLEST collections! Do check that out if you haven’t seen them. Super creative.
Don’t even bother with these, despite the reviews. The ultra-cute statement tee is cut in the most unflattering way. The arm holes are huge and gape open- honestly not sure who could look good in this. It’s nothing like the picture. The brand is Enmeng.
This off the shoulder top looks so cute in the picture, but y’all – it’s SO cheap (think: the old, cheap polyester of your childhood) and the colors are not at all what they show in the picture. It’s also just a poorly made garment. I’d steer clear. The brand is Asvivid.
As for me personally, I actually don’t own a lot of clothes (shoes are another subject,<ahem>). In fact, you’ll see me repeat a lot of the same items over and over in my pictures. I tend to buy items that I truly love and I typically buy them on sale (Hello?! Big Nordstrom Sale Coming Soon!). Most of the items that are in my closet have been there for years (which is why I need to get serious about staying in shape, but that’s another topic for another day!).
Do you guys have chock full closets? Do you find that you wear most of what is in your closet? I’d love to hear how you shop!
