Ever since we happily put Utah in our rear view mirror years ago, Nespresso has been the coffee brand of choice for this family. It’s simply the best. But every summer, Starbucks “gets me” with one of their new summer coffee drinks. Have you tried the Starbucks Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso yet? It’s a lightly sweet and delicious iced latte with a hint of cinnamon. This drink is super easy to make at home! Try it out and let me know what you think!
Ingredients for Starbucks Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso
- Oat-ly oat Milk (full fat or barista version is best, our Walmart carries it.)
- Brown sugar syrup (purchase here or make it yourself w/ equal parts brown sugar and water in a sauce pan. Heat until sugar is completely dissolved. Add 1 tsp. vanilla, a sprinkle of cinnamon and stir. Store in a jar with a lid in the refrigerator).
- Espresso- You can make your own espresso with a moka pot , a french press or this travel espresso maker. (We have all of these and several more…..excessive, I know, lol) I use our Nespresso machine for this drink.
Keep in mind that Starbucks uses 3 shots (!) of Blonde Roast Espresso in their grande size. I like to use only 1 shot of a darker roast. It tastes the same without the “holy cow 3 shots of espresso” feel, lol.
In a cocktail shaker add the espresso shot(s), 2-3 tsp. of brown sugar syrup and fill 3/4 of the way with ice. Shake it until the outside of the shaker is good and frosty. You want the drink inside super cold, with lots of foam.
Take the entire top off of the shaker and pour all the contents (ice and all) into a tall glass.
Top with oat milk (about 3/4 cup).
Sprinkle with cinnamon.
