Holiday Outfits for Women Over 40

OK- In all honesty, these outfits will work for any woman of any age who would like to wear them, but Google likes it better when I put that in the title- so “Holiday outfits for women over 40” it is!

It can be challenging to find pretty, classic holiday outfits that fall somewhere in between a glittery mini dress for a twenty-something and an ugly cartoonish looking sweater. A lot of you have asked about holiday looks that are classic, stylish and won’t break the bank. I thought I’d give you a few ideas built around a simple red skirt. If you don’t have one, you can snag this one on Amazon. The quality of this skirt makes it look expensive and it comes in a lot of other colors.

The thing about this skirt is it’s incredibly comfortable and totally classic. If you pair it with a chunky white knit and the 12-hour heels, you’ll be all set to enjoy the party without being uncomfortable or having to worry all night about a wardrobe malfunction. This would be a great holiday outfit for an office party.

Swap the chunky knit for a smooth cashmere turtleneck and add a little statement jewelry to amp up the holiday look and you’re all set! FOr both of these looks, I front tucked the sweater which is such an easy thing to do to add interest and shape to any outfit, giving you a more defined waist without a line cutting you visually in half.

Another option is a Christmasy plaid flannel! I tied it around the waist for the same reason I’ve done the front tuck above. It adds visual interest and shape. Super cute with flats or even sneakers! The flannel shirt is on major sale at the moment.

Ok, so this one isn’t for a party but I had to include it because these jammies are one of the best finds I’ve scored in awhile! Y’all these are so dang good and under $15! The top has a flattering curved hem, the pants are plenty roomy but not baggy and the fabric is buttery soft but not hot! LOVE them!
