I did a full review of the Sirtfood Diet several years ago. If you are interested in that you can read it here. I don’t usually “diets”, per say, but I can highly recommend this one if you need to shift some weight rather quickly…..and safely. It works. (And did I mention the Sirtfood Diet allows dark chocolate and wine??? Sign me up!) Let’s talk about the green juice from the plan that gives you a boost of energy and can aid in weight loss.

While I don’t follow the diet specifically any longer, I do still drink the “green juice” once a day. This juice is highly nutritious, tastes great and will give you a big energy burst (thanks to the matcha tea)………all while keeping hunger at bay. Win-win….win. And as with most green juices, you’ll also notice brighter skin if you drink this regularly. Win.
The biggest difficulty with green juice is keeping so much fresh produce in the house all the time. I’ve found that I get them to last the longest by snipping the stems of the greens and placing them stem-side down in cold water until ready to use. I have a nice “windowsill garden” of fresh greens ready for juicing.

Oh- and you WILL need a juicer. You will gag for sure if you try this in a blender! I like this Breville juicer because it works so well and is more compact than most, allowing for easy storage. I’ve had it for years and it’s still going strong.
Sirtfood Diet Green Juice
- 2 large handfuls kale
- a large handful of arugula
- a very small handful of flat leaf parsley (this can be strong, so just a little)
- 2-3 large celery sticks
- 1/2 medium green apple (I use a whole one instead)
- 1 inch piece of ginger
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1/2 tsp matcha powder
- Just run everything through your juicer except the lemon and matcha powder. Turn off your juicer. Squeeze 1/2 a lemon into the juice and then add the 1/2 tsp matcha powder and whisk or stir until blended.
The taste is tart/sweet and it’s easy to drink.

Here are the essentials, if you’d like to follow the entire diet. It does work and the science behind WHY it works is fascinating if, like me, you like that sort of thing.

It all sounds good and healthy but that green apple is okay if I can use a green delicious apple as the green apple. I can’t stand tart green apples.
The green delicious would work just as well! It just adds enough sweetness to make the juice easy to drink. Let me know if you give it a try! Thank you so much for reading and commenting!

I’ll have to try this. I don’t have a juicer though.

Thanks for reading Jennifer! I definitely recommend only making this with a juicer. I think it might be completely disgusting if blended, lol.

I love trying new juice recipes! Thank you!

Is the Breville juicer your favorite? I see about 4 or 5 options of Breville juicers on Amazon. Which do you suggest? There is a Fountain Elite, Fountain Plus, and a Slow Squeeze. I’d like to invest in a juicer but there are too many voices out there with suggestions and I’d like to hear from someone who isn’t being paid to advertise for a certain product. 🙂
Hi Stacey. I like mine because it’s a little more compact than some of the others. Ive had it since 2017 and it’s still going strong. I can tell it still works really well, because the remnants left over when I empty it are still very dry. I’ve linked my exact one here> https://bit.ly/3aJoO9S Thanks so much for reading!
