Lets talk about foundation for women over 40. It can be your friend or your enemy. ย I am always trying new foundations to see what will address the special needs of aging skin. If I ever find anything better than whats in this post, I will absolutely update you. For now, this is the absolute best I have ever used.
The pigment in this foundation is high, so you need very little. The coverage is described as medium to heavy, and let me tell you- it COVERS. But what I love most about this foundation is that it is very moisturizing and has a lovely radiant effect. Not a sheen, not a sparkle, but a beautiful flawless radiant look. And I don’t know about you, but my “radiance” quality has definitely taken a dive as of late, so I will take all the help I can get!
The other great thing about this is that it feels extremely light on your face. You can put it on and forget it’s even there.
Most of us, over 40 have skin that tends to be on the dryer side, but there is an oil free blend as well, if your skin happens to be more oily.
For application, I first tried a foundation brush like this one.
I found that for this particular foundation it didn’t blend it as well as a Beauty Blender.
A dampened Beauty Blender, will give you completely flawless coverage with this foundation.I put a dab on the back of my hand, dot on my face and neck and then blend away with the damp Beauty Blender.
I don’t know how it lessens the look of fine lines and wrinkles, but it absolutely does. I think it’s a dual process of covering ,combined with light reflection and …..I don’t know….magic or something? All I know is that I haven’t found anything to beat it and I’ve repurchased it twice now. That is actually really saying something because when it comes to make up, I’m like a wide eyed child in a candy store always looking for the next new, shiny miracle- in- a- bottle. This has had me coming back for more, so I wanted to spread the word.
Sephora carries this brand (Ulta does not), so slip in and try it out. Get a free sample and it will last you quite awhile, since it is so richly pigmented. If you want to buy it, sign up forย EBATESย (if you haven’t already), buy it online fromย Sephoraย ,and (as of the time of this post), get 4% back.
Do you have a favorite foundation? Have you ever tried this one? I would love to hear about it in the comments.
Cheers!
Melissa
How does it hold up in high humidity? I am tired of managing to look put together during our few cool Florida months and looking not so put together the rest of the year. I may have to seek this out. Thanks
Thanks for the comment! Having lived most of my life in VA, I hear ya Amy. Thats a good question. One which I can’t answer yet, because…..you know….Colorado. It angers many people when they hear that we have such low humidity, lol.. I have lost many friends. I am GUESSING here, but I *think* it would hold up well in the humidity, simply because it is so incredibly light. After I apply it, I seriously forget it’s there. It looks SO lovely on, that its worth picking up a sample the next time you are at Sephora and giving it a try.
Ahhhh! I love it! Thank you for having our backs. Because, you know, time sneaks up on us. One minute, the foundation we’re using works *just right* and the next minute, we’re squinting at the mirror, wondering what went wrong this morning…
Thank you! I’m glad that you liked the review. The struggle is real, over 40 and I Love, love, love all things make up, so I am happy to try products, write honest reviews and shout it from the rooftop when I find something thats actually good!
OK, so I think I have been applying foundation wrong. Don’t cringe, I use my hands. Are you cringing? lol I am going to buy this foundation, should I also get the brush?
Not cringing at all! I would get the Beauty Blender. It works with all foundations and the beautiful part is that it doesn’t suck up the product into the sponge! So you actually apply what you squeeze out, instead of losing half of it into the sponge. i find that I use my dampened Beauty Blender much more than my foundation brush. Game changer,I tell ya!
