DIY repurposed, rustic, french country vanity table. We have been in our home here in the mountains of Utah, for about 6 weeks. Our home in Colorado was much larger and had a huge master bathroom with a built in vanity table. Our new home is much smaller and is very rustic in both its setting as well as it’s decor.  There is a LOT of testosterone in this house at the moment, while our sons are looking for apartments in Salt Lake City, so aside from the fact that I need a vanity table for practicality, I also just need a feminine space of my own! The previous space I was working with looked like this.

Our new home has a very rustic looking master bath with a lovely stone shower and marble countertops, but there is no space for a vanity table in there and there is just no way I can go back to putting my makeup on standing up. For one thing- I NEED the magnification mirror, thanks to my over 40 eyesight!

Check out the video tour here- If you’d like to shop the products I use, I’ve provided links at the end of this post.

My solution has been to commandeer a corner of the bedroom for now. My daughter had asked us to keep her writing desk at our home so I repurposed it into my DIY vanity table. It has a cute, rustic look to it, so it fits in the room nicely.DIY repurposed, rustic, french country vanity table.

The mirror is small-ish but does the job with decent lighting as well as 2 different magnification levels. You can buy it here.

You won’t see any of my skin care things here, they are all in my bathroom on the counter. The only exception is a sample of Uma Brightening Oil, which I use lightly, before applying make-up. I will be buying the full size soon. This has a pleasing, light ,exotic scent, and more than that, it provides a really pretty, dewey glow to my skin. I really like it.

You can see that I just used various glasses to store things in and I like the effect: useful but not TOO utilitarian, and it dresses up the rustic look a bit. DIY rustic, repurposed vanity table with video and links!

The “marble” trays are just stiff cardboard covered in marble contact paper to protect the desk. You can get the contact paper here. I was really happy with this paper when it came in because it really looks like actual marble.

I’ve had the white “fur” throws forever, and you can get them here. I think they are pretty much obligatory for any vanity table and they too, take the rustic feel down a notch.DIY repurposed, rustic, french country vanity table, with links and video!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray

The one product that I am so jazzed about recently is this rosewater facial spray from Mario Badescu.DIY vanity table; Mario Badescu facial spray I use this several times a day. This is the most hydrating facial mist I have ever used. I absolutely LOVE it. I will be pouring some into a travel sized spray bottle for my purse. This smells just like light, rose water and the scent is so refreshing, yet dissipates fairly quickly so you don’t have to worry about it mixing with your fragrance. For my friends in the scorching heat this summer, grab a big bottle of this for and keep some in the fridge, and throw some in your pool/beach bag. This is the ultimate refreshing spray for hot days. You can order from their website or do what I did and get it from Amazon

I still use my faithful Evian for setting my makeup….it’s never failed me.
