After laboring under the delusion all day yesterday that it was Wednesday, instead of Thursday, imagine my surprise to learn this morning that it was #freshairfridays again!
Last weekend was a busy one for us and my husband and I both worked through most of it. But- hello day trip Utah! We managed to steal the time to drive up into the mountains for a couple of hours. We went to a spot we’ve never been before and enjoyed the cooler air. We didn’t do anything in particular other than just enjoy being outside together. I wore a favorite plain, white tee from Everlane and my old JCrew matchstick jeans.
We popped down into town for a drink and some lunch before getting back to work. I just switched out my shoes, added some earrings and a red lip (all of which I had thrown in my bag before we left that morning) and I was all set for a spot of alfresco lunch in town.
I look like I smell something bad, here. Everything actually smelled really good- so who knows why my face does that. But the point about the tee remains.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again-
I may be outdoorsy, but I’m no barbarian.
This is just how my life is right now. I think this is what it’s all about. Just being flexible- rolling with whatever we have available and being ready for change when it comes.
Most of my photos are taken by myself. They aren’t professional- but this is what I ACTUALLY look like right now- and these are the things I ACTUALLY do. There are parts of my life that I love and parts that I’d like to change. And I must say that I’m coming to grips with that. At almost 48, I am feeling more comfortable in my own skin- lumps, wrinkles and all- than I ever have before. I think taking a moment here and there to re-set and just be alone with my own thoughts once in awhile is what has helped that process along.
It can be hard to find the time to take sec and relax, but we NEED to. Maybe it’s just taking a few minutes to sit on the porch with a cup of tea, or going for a walk. Whatever it is and however often is necessary for each of us, I think we do ourselves a real disservice if we neglect it. Our generation is GREAT at neglecting it, don’t you think? I hope you like these little snippets that I share of our outdoor days and I hope you are encouraged to grab a few minutes for yourself!
A fun look at our day trip in Utah for #freshairfridays!!!
What did you do this week to relax for a moment? What do you look forward to? It seems we have more big changes on the horizon for my family and I think we are ready to meet them. 🙂
Don’t forget to check out my very first fashion post here! Where I took 500 images to come up with about 5 that could be shared. I did NOT need to see some of those photos y’all. I definitely did not. This is not for the faint of heart.
Until Next time!
I love a day out together in a beautiful scenery! It is always so relaxing!
I just LOVE your posts! First, your fashion post was crazy awesome! I wanted everything you had on! I love this post too and now can’t wait to hear what you have in the pipeline! I too, take all my pictures with a tripod and 10 seconds to get into position! You would not believe the number of photos that I pray no one ever gets their hand on! Peace Doll!

Thank you for the inspiration Cheryl! I know exactly what you mean- I just texted my sisters that my phone could be used for major blackmail right about now, lol!
